Pretty fascinating explanation of how you are actually contributing to the preservation of all of the world's knowledge when you go through that "are you really a human?" test to purchase concert tickets, which typically involves typing out a pair of words.

There should be a good word to describe this, other than the odious "synergy."

Worth noting that a number of pirate software sites (and free porn, I believe) also use an extension of this philosophy, by having users enter a dozen or so CAPTCHA style phrases before offering up their goods, in hopes of either regurgitating them into other sites or developing algorithms to read them.

So, pirate software and free porn may also be helping preserve the world's accumulated knowledge. Lord knows I'd rather support those vices over Ticketmaster.
